FAQs
Do I need screenwriting experience to join?
No. The Feature Screenplay Lab is designed to guide you through the process from idea and story development through your first draft, regardless of experience level.
What if I only have an idea right now?
That’s the perfect place to start! You don’t need a finished outline or partially written screenplay. The Lab actually starts with developing your concept.
What if I’ve already started my screenplay?
You can still participate. Use the Lab to strengthen what you already have, identify gaps, and continue moving your screenplay toward a completed draft.
Is the Feature Screenplay Lab included with a Producer Membership?
Yes. Producer members get access to private Scriptmatix Labs, workshops, and events, including the Feature Screenplay Lab, while their Producer membership is active.
Do I have to commit to all 8 weeks?
No. Producer Plan is a membership; therefore, you can cancel anytime. You’ll have access to the Lab and other Producer benefits while your membership remains active.
What happens if I cancel during the Lab?
Your access to Labs, workshops, events, and other Producer benefits ends when your paid membership period ends.
What's the difference between the monthly and yearly plans?
Monthly is $99/month and can be cancelled anytime. Yearly is $79/month, billed annually at $948, saving you $240 compared with paying monthly for 12 months.
What if I can't attend a live workshop?
Recordings will be available to Producer members, so you can catch up if you miss a live session.
Will the instructor personally read my screenplay?
The instructor teaches the live workshops, answers questions, and guides you through the screenwriting process. Individual project analysis is powered by Scriptmatix, so you don’t have to wait for your screenplay to be manually reviewed.
How does Scriptmatix help me during the Lab?
You’ll develop and write your project inside the Scriptmatix platform, have access to all its creative tools, and use the available analysis throughout the process to evaluate your concept, story, characters, structure, outline, and screenplay as you progress.
How much time should I expect to spend each week?
You’ll attend the live workshop and then work on that week’s milestone at your own pace. The more consistently you complete the weekly milestones, the more likely you are to reach a completed first draft by the end of the Lab.
Will I own the screenplay I create?
Yes. You retain ownership of your work.
Does Scriptmatix write my screenplay for me?
Scriptmatix is designed to help you develop, structure, write, and analyze your story. You remain the creator making the decisions about your screenplay.
What happens after the Feature Screenplay Lab ends?
Your Producer membership doesn’t end with the Lab. Producer members can participate in additional private Labs, workshops, and events as they’re offered, while continuing to develop, analyze, and advance their projects in Scriptmatix.
Does everyone who submits receive a meeting?
Yes. Every participant who completes the Lab process and submits their finished screenplay through the designated Feature Screenplay Lab submission link receives a meeting with Mikhael Bassilli to discuss their project and next steps. Ambassador selection is a separate opportunity; submitting does not guarantee selection.
Can I cancel anytime?
Monthly Producer memberships can be cancelled anytime. Your access continues through the end of your current paid billing period.
