Hi filmmakers, creators, writers, and storytellers, I’m Mikhael Bassilli, the founder of Scriptmatix. This company has been through quite an evolution. A few years ago, I began building a screenplay management database for producers, organizations, and screenplay contests. My goal was simple: to help get movies produced. I saw so much talent out there. I helped many, but I also watched an enormous amount of talent go unseen. But when I saw the future of AI screenwriting, I saw an opportunity and had to make a pivot.
The film business is tough. But I never let that deter me. I set out to create a way for storytellers, creators, and screenwriters to get their work into the world and in front of audiences. I developed creative solutions to connect talent with professionals, and I’m proud to have played a part in getting films produced, writers staffed, and creators introduced to some of the biggest and best companies in the entertainment industry.
But when I reflect on those efforts, something always felt off. The film industry felt broken to me. I saw so much talent vanish into Hollywood’s revolving door. It felt almost criminal, to be honest. Why? Because talent alone is rarely the key to a successful career. There are so many other factors at play.
I organized events to showcase the best talent from across the country. We analyzed screenplays, selected winners based on merit, and celebrated incredible work. But at some point, I realized this wasn’t what creators truly needed. Whether they knew it or not, competing and critiquing wasn’t the solution. I didn’t want to be in the business of competitions anymore. The most honest thing I could do was give creators the tools to create and let them thrive in an environment that fosters productivity.
I’m a creator, filmmaker, storyteller, and screenwriter. I wanted something that I, too, could enjoy using—a tool to help me express myself more prolifically. When AI became mainstream, I never imagined it could evolve into what it is today. I saw an opportunity to give creators what they truly seek: the chance to be seen and heard. For an artist, expressing your art is fundamental to your existence. I hope Scriptmatix can do that for you.

Story Engine is a screenwriting software designed to give creators full control over their process and their work. As a serious, working screenwriter, I’ve always believed that the creative process is the backbone of everything we do. I wanted to harness the speed of AI without losing the nuance and complexity of creative input. With Story Engine, I’ve built an editor and workflow that allows you to write your screenplays better and faster than ever.
One of the most exciting features of Story Engine is that creators will soon be able to custom-build their own story models, creative processes, and train their AI to fit their personal style. This aspect excites me the most. When you use Story Engine control models, you’ll essentially be writing your screenplay using my personal story model. But I can’t wait to see what you create with your own! I’m passionate about finding creators and storytellers who want to collaborate on the story modeling process. I truly believe story modeling has the potential to become its own art form—a tool that helps prolific creators elevate their writing.
As Story Engine neared completion, it became clear to me that we needed vertical integration, software that didn’t just stop at screenplays but fostered the entire content production process. As a filmmaker, I’ve done it all: held the camera, operated sound, directed, and edited. But no matter how much you learn, no one can be a one-person production. That’s the problem Studio Composer solves. In one easy-to-use interface, you can quickly create all your video and audio assets.
The diversity of voices and perspectives I’ve encountered is mind-blowing. I’ve seen tens of thousands of stories from all walks of life, and nothing excites me more than seeing your work come to life.
My hope is that Scriptmatix becomes the support system creators can rely on. Over the years, I’ve seen thousands of stories and countless unique voices. The thought of giving each of those voices the tools they need to share their art with the world is what drives me.
